You may be like me, in that I am so amazed that the perfect holy Son of God would even think about me...and then my mind goes further....
I have to realize that not only does He do that.....(think of me) HE, in His perfection stepped out of heaven to suffer, bleed and die for this thing (me) that He created for His pleasure, to have a relationship with Him, Me! Me?
Then, only to be time and time again made second to my own desires....to be forgotten while I chase my ambitions, to be neglected while I do "His work" all the while not even considering Him.
What really is HIS work? Well, what did He do while He was on the earth? Let's see...he gathered up a small group of men, and He spent 3 1/2 years training them. While He did that, He taught, He preached, He healed the sick, raised the dead, made the lame to walk, caused the blind to see. Why did He train them? For what?
Jesus taught them to follow Him and to place their faith and trust in Him. He was teaching them to teach others. What was He teaching? (glad you asked)
Jesus said "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep."
So he taught that without Him is death, and life is only through Him.
The Apostle Paul says...
"How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?"
..."And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also."
So how do you feel about PROSELYTIZING? Is it awkward? Uncomfortable? Too personal? Not your job?
Are you thinking the atheist, agnostic, Muslim, Jew, Wiccan, won't respect you? That it will turn them off from Christianity? (fyi...they already are)
Someone who, if they died today they would have to face the HOLY RIGHTEOUS SON OF GOD, who died that they might live.....but would have to face them with out being covered by the saving blood of Jesus as the payment for their SIN?
Here is what one atheist says to a Christian who would chose to "Not Proselytize".
Penn Jilllette from Penn & Teller talks about why we should share our faith. He is an atheist but his message to Christians is powerful and compelling.
So...if you have been bought with a price and you are not your own, and you do not share their faith...why not? It is more important than saving someone from being hit by a truck, or at least so says an atheist.
